danced, danced, danced all night

/ Friday, July 29, 2011 /
I watched My Fair Lady months ago and daily still have the song “I could have danced all night” in my head. I would surely be singing (and dancing to) it constantly if I lived in this beautifully converted ballroom designed by Steven Gambrel.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

zing of tangerine

/ Wednesday, July 27, 2011 /
Bold citrus hues, such as tangerine, can add so much zing and exude a fresh bold vibe--it is the perfect color to add to your home or closet as the peak of summer approaches. And if you are looking for my suggestions...

balanced chic

/ Tuesday, July 26, 2011 /
Having just moved into a new place I am getting this feeling that I have to fill every single empty space and fall sin to over decorating. Thankfully I came across this show stopping home designed by Chloe Warner that made me feel better about leaving walls without huge mirrors or pieces of art and not filling up empty spaces for the sake of it. Simple balanced style is best and allows style defining pieces, such as a fabulous wallpaper, an exotic light fixture or a standout piece of furniture to be the star.

pure luxury: bath side bar cart

/ Thursday, July 21, 2011 /
This bathroom is pure bliss--from the brilliant bath side bar cart, gilded clawfoot tub legs and the iron work in the window. That is definitely a tub that I would soak in with a glass of wine even on the hottest day of the summer.

inner voice {paint it!}

/ Tuesday, July 19, 2011 /
I am packing tonight (never the fun part of moving) but trying to focus on the exciting potential of my new space. I am beginning to realize how many pieces of white furniture I own and keep saying in my head "paint it!". These two boldly colored dining room tables are definitely making that urge grow...

So fun, right? I am a bit torn between painting pieces high gloss or matte though, so that is what I will surely occupy my mind wish as I wrap up vases this evening.

good place to start {white + bright}

/ Monday, July 18, 2011 /
I find something so comforting in the fact that light and bright spaces never fail to be beautiful. Not that there is any magic formula to great interior design but this combination is a great place to start!

unframed mirrors

/ Sunday, July 17, 2011 /
One of the first purchases I am planning to make for my new (smaller) apartment are mirrors, as they are always a great way to open up and lighten up a space. I have many framed mirrors but I really want to purchase unframed mirrors and arrange them on the wall and have them serve as a focal point. I love the floor to ceiling placement of these....

but am also drawn to the random but central placement of these...

Both make statements and are wonderful inspiration

happy weekend!

/ Friday, July 15, 2011 /
Alright, alright I know I have been a horrible blogger this week but I have just been going non-stop (in a good way!) and didn't have a single second to sit down at my home computer. I hope that the colors, patterns and styling of this incredible home will make up for it!

Also, I am moving into a new apartment next week and have all sorts of projects planned that I can't wait to share. It is a smaller space so you can expect a lot of small space inspiration as well. In the meantime, have a wonderful weekend!

double trouble

/ Monday, July 11, 2011 /
One beautiful minimalist coffee table can be lovely in the right room but make it two and the look is just divine. Although different sizes (which I love) these coffee tables make a lovely focal point to this simple and contemporary room. However. I think they would be even more dazzling layered over a bold patterned rug.

Either way, I need to have them...

current cravings {eclectic luxe}

/ Sunday, July 10, 2011 /
I spend a lot of time scouring the web, magazines and stores for home furnishings and fashion accessories. In the past week these are the four pieces that stand out as worthy and statement making investments...

"the new living room"

/ Thursday, July 7, 2011 /
I love that Windsor Smith calls the kitchen "the new living room" and after seeing this design of hers I have to agree-I am pretty sure that I would never leave!

{chic} commerical delight

/ Tuesday, July 5, 2011 /
I loved Chris Barrett's bungalow in the latest issue of House Beautiful and instantly headed online to peruse her portfolio. I don't typically focus on designer's commercial spaces but was delighted by the inspiration found in this sushi restaurant. The restaurant was inspired by the pink cherry blossoms of Kyoto and designed to cater to guests eyes and palettes.

I am particularly fond of the random pattern and elegance of the walls, seating choices, wallpapered ceiling and mix and textile choices.
All of these elements would translate perfectly in to a residential space.

/ Friday, July 1, 2011 /
I don't know about you but I am looking forward to celebrating the independence day weekend with sparklers, picnic fare, friends and of course in red, white and blue...
