kitchen crush {minimal + industrial}

/ Tuesday, December 20, 2011 /
In general, I am not a gal that loves industrial design, as it can come across rather cold and utilitairan. The one room where I find the industrial look to not only appealing but functional is the kitchen. I would happily replicate these open shelves, windows, tolix chairs, lights and this table (umm...amazing) any day and any time!

in the kitchen {a dash of pine}

/ Sunday, December 4, 2011 /
I spend so much more time in the kitchen during the holidays than any other time of the year -- whether baking cookies, entertaining or sharing holiday cocktails with friends. It only makes sense that it is room that is decked in holiday decor. I adore the hints of pine added to these already stunning kitchens. It is festive while still allowing the kitchen to remain a functioning space through the holidays.

Oh and Santa, could you please bring me starburst mirrors to hang in my kitchen windows?

kitchen crush {industrial + neutral}

/ Thursday, October 6, 2011 /
No matter how much I love a punches of color in a room the kitchen is the one place where I crave the serenity of neutrals. The industrial lighting, quartz counter tops, open shelves and pewter collection in this kitchen work perfectly together to create a functional and inviting space. I also love the two botanical prints over the stove that create the illusion of windows.

"the new living room"

I love that Windsor Smith calls the kitchen "the new living room" and after seeing this design of hers I have to agree-I am pretty sure that I would never leave!

simple design with shine

/ Wednesday, June 22, 2011 /
Simple is sometimes best but I am always an advocate for a little twist with clean and simple design--just a little something that sets the room apart. These kitchens are clean, modern and chic with a little twist that makes the divine--high gloss surfaces.

craving {rustic butcher block}

/ Thursday, June 16, 2011 /
Although not having to cook for two weeks while on vacation was a treat I am quite happy to be back in the kitchen tonight--actually making tortilla soup to try and quell the sore throat I fear jet lag has brought on. However, I would love being in my kitchen even more if I had one of these lovely butcher block tables to prepare my dinner on...

loving (dark + weathered}

There are many items on my list of dream house "must haves" but lately a kitchen full of weathered and dark wood if climbing to the top of the list!

and I am off...

/ Monday, May 30, 2011 /
Today is the day that we finally depart for our European adventure! Although our final destination is Italy we will be spending the first day in Madrid and thought it was only appropriate to share some inspiration from my favorite Spanish interior design magazine, nuevo estilo, to get me in the mood! I definitely wouldn't mind enjoying tapas in either of these dining areas...

And although I will be spending some time away from the computer (or trying) I do have some posts lined up for while I am away!
